Live In The Movement®

MY STORY
I began formal dance lessons in Newcastle at the age of 13 studying classical, jazz, contemporary and character dance, before taking up full-time dance studies under the guidance of Tessa Maunder OAM. I joined The Australian Ballet School in 2005 where after 3 years of study I obtained an Advanced Diploma of Dance. In 2008 I gained a contract with The Australian Ballet.
Following retirement from The Australian Ballet in 2016 I chose to share my professional experience with others through teaching and mentoring. I have since taught for Sydney Dance Company, The Australian Ballet, The Royal Academy of Dance, Tanya Pearson Academy, Brent Street, Ballet Without Borders and others.
I have attained the Royal Academy Of Dance (RAD) Professional Dancers’ Postgraduate Teaching Certificate and am a registered RAD teacher.
VALUES
My teaching approach is based on the philosophy of 'living in the movement'. For me, this is about connecting the mind and body to create a sense of flow. Through my teaching I aspire to help each dancer live in their movement by nurturing their passion, creativity and individuality.
Accessible - I believe that dance should be accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
Balanced teaching approach - I focus on the relationship between technique, artistry and theory.
Learner centred - I take an active approach in understanding each student's individual needs.
Encouraging self growth - I cultivate confidence and self growth through incremental goal setting.
