MY STORY

I began formal dance lessons in Newcastle at the age of 13 studying classical, jazz, contemporary and character dance, before taking up full-time dance studies under the guidance of Tessa Maunder OAM. I joined The Australian Ballet School in 2005 where after 3 years of study I obtained an Advanced Diploma of Dance. In 2008 I gained a contract with The Australian Ballet.

Following retirement from The Australian Ballet in 2016 I chose to share my professional experience with others through teaching and mentoring. I have since taught for Sydney Dance Company, The Australian Ballet, The Royal Academy of Dance, Tanya Pearson Academy, Brent Street, Ballet Without Borders and others.

I completed the Royal Academy Of Dance (RAD) Professional Dancers’ Postgraduate Teaching Certificate in 2019 and am a registered RAD teacher. I hold a current First Aid Certificate and Working With Children Check.

VALUES

My teaching approach is based on the philosophy of 'living in the movement'. For me, this is about connecting the mind and body to create a sense of flow. Through my teaching I aspire to help each dancer live in their movement by nurturing their passion, creativity and individuality.

  • Accessible - I believe that dance should be accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

  • Balanced teaching approach - I focus on the relationship between technique, artistry and theory.

  • Learner centred - I take an active approach in understanding each student's individual needs.

  • Encouraging self growth - I cultivate confidence and self growth through incremental goal setting.
